2012 Onion Sales

The North Gwinnett Kiwanis Club has a long history of giving back to our community. Throughout the recent years, we have provided teacher appreciation luncheons for area school teachers as a way of thanking them prior to beginning the school year. We have provided to area school kids in support of their community projects, leadership programs, and scholarships for local high school students. In fact, over the past five years, we have awarded over $50,000 in scholarships to high school students. This year, thanks to the tremendous community response to our annual fundraising events such as the Father/Daughter Dance in the Winter, Golf Tournament in the Fall, and our Vidalia Onion Sale in the Spring, we will be increasing our annual amount to $14,000 in scholarship awards. We are proud to partner with the four High School Key Clubs that we sponsor at Mill Creek, Buford, North Gwinnett, and Lanier. We are also excited about partnering with our K Kids Clubs at Ivy Creek Elementary and Burnette Elementary. All of these Kiwanis organizations sell Vidalia onions and receive a share of the profits in support of their respective community service projects and we are thrilled to support these clubs, their faculty advisors, and their student leaders!

If you would like to join in our scholarship efforts with the purchase of Vidalia Onions or if you need additional information, please contact David Williams at 404 386-4782. We are selling one ten pound bag for $12.00 and three ten pound bags for $30.00 through the end of April, 2012. Our shipment of onions should arrive in early May and we have a goal of selling 2000 bags this year! Thanks for making a difference in the lives of our youth!
